HMRC is moving self-employed income to quarterly digital updates. The threshold drops each year, so most full-time sole traders will be in soon. Start now and you build a full year of clean records — and claim every cost — before it’s mandatory.

Your estimate includes Income Tax, Class 4 National Insurance and payments on account — the figures free calculators leave out. If Wyse ever miscalculates your tax from the records you approved, we'll fix it and work with you to put it right with HMRC.

Because ours is right. If you are self-employed you pay Class 4 National Insurance on top of Income Tax, and often payments on account too. Free calculators usually leave those out, so the bill looks smaller than it really is — until HMRC's does. We'd rather you saw the true number early.
Whichever gives you the bigger deduction — and we compute both for you. For high-mileage vans, real fuel, insurance, servicing and repair costs often beat the flat mileage rate. You pick one method per vehicle and we keep you to it, as HMRC requires.
It phases in by income: over £50,000 from April 2026, over £30,000 from April 2027, and over £20,000 from April 2028. Even if you're not in yet, keeping clean digital records now means you claim every cost and switch over painlessly.
Not yet — that's coming, and we'll say so plainly rather than imply it. Today Wyse keeps your digital records and prepares the figures: give your accountant a clean pack they can file from, or use the numbers for your own return. Everything you record now carries straight over when filing arrives, so nothing is wasted.
Log what your contractor paid you and the CIS they deducted (or let us work it out from your labour and status). We total it up, set it against your real tax bill once your costs are in, and show the refund you're owed — ready for whoever files.
Your records are yours. Everything is stored securely, nothing is sold, and you can export or delete your data whenever you like.
